English as a Foreign Language/Academic Writing

Improving your English

The Language Centre offers Academic Writing modules for all undergraduate students, so English speakers and students who don't have English as their first language:

  • LANG1002 Improving English Usage and Style in Academic Writing (for native and near-native speakers)
  • LANG1003 Improving English Usage and Style in Academic Writing (for non-native speakers)

Each module is worth 15 credits at level 4, and you can mix them with Modern Foreign Language modules in many combinations.

In addition, all students are welcome to book our one-to-one English support sessions. To develop your skills independently, you can borrow from our range of English and foreign language self-study resources. Masters students can get additional help with their writing by attending our Masters Support classes.

If you need to take the IELTS exam to demonstrate your level of English, our IELTS preparation classes will help you to get the best possible result. We run several IELTS courses per year and anyone (students and members of the public) can enrol. For more information, see IELTS classes.

If you are not yet a student at the University of Worcester and want to improve your English, the following programmes will help you on your way:
